I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .
But, I think I could be... Place name links like Carolina Beach, NC go to Wikipedia. Place name links like Carolina Beach use the local tourism or government website.

After Bristol I came home thinking I could stay quite well at TFS's beach house for as long as she has it and will have me. Or December 1st, whichever comes first. :) Beach life seemed to have agreed with me, and with fall and winter making their annual approach felt in the changing leaves and freshness of the air, I started to look for reasons why I couldn't be somewhere warmer. |

Since TFS has the beach house on a per-diem, it's free lodging, plus the usual costs of groceries etc. that I'd spend here. Plus a somewhat-larger recreational beverages budget, but it'll all work out even I'm sure.
My friend RM, another long-time (almost 15 years) far-away friend who I've barely met in person, is heading out west to seek his fortune putting his millwright and machinist skills to work for our fine Alberta industry, possibly the Athabasca Oil Sands . So he needs a decent place to stay when he's not working his tail off outside the city.
RM needs a place, I have a place, problem solved. And I have half my rent to cover the expenses of a traveller on the road like insurance and cell roaming charges. A win for both of us, and one obstacle removed from my path. |
