I use a lot of links, and only thumbnail images open in a separate window. Middle-click or right-click a link to open it in a new window or tab.

I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .

But, I think I could be...

Time to hit he road. One last good-bye to Squirty, and the view, a check to make sure I haven't forgotten anything, and off on the first day of driving, an easy one through places I've been before, as a warm-up to driving through places I've never been.

Let's see how this goes!

Not going to miss the snow completely - woke up to a layer of it on the car and everything else this morning. Good thing the car came with a snow brush! It'll be slower going for a while and I'll have to make up the time later in the day. It won't be snowing south of the border, but there will be rain until after Fargo.

Next up, crossing the border.

Border crossing was real easy, followed by a long drive through plenty of nowhere, to a motel in Minneapolis with crap wifi. Off for another 10 hours to St. Louis hopefully, where things get slower. No snow here!

St. Louis arch
on my way out
After a 10-hour drive that I did in about 8, got into St. Louis. Pretty dull terrain, much like home: wheat fields, low hills and shallow valleys, through more heartland. Today I cross the Mississippi and head eastward a touch, to Nashville. The car has been a champ, effortlessly keeping up with and ahead of traffic. Not a lot to see out the window, but at least the weather has been benign and I've been able to find some radio worth listening to.
Road construction was pretty crazy leaving St. Louis and I risked my life leaving the place, but got one shot of the arch.
