I use a lot of links, and only thumbnail images open in a separate window. Middle-click or right-click a link to open it in a new window or tab.

I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .

But, I think I could be...

from Woodland Hills
to the Pacific Coast Highway
It's another hot day, so I drove the Mulholland Highway to Santa Monica. The highway is a continuation of Mulholland Drive on the inland side of the western Santa Monica Mountains . It's a 30-mile mix of rural valley and mountain hillside, popular with bike riders, motorized and pedalled. TFS and I have been on it before, but not the full length, and I wasn't on a picture-taking expedition.

One facility I am sorely missing is a slideshow for browsing images, which would be especially handy for drive-along images. In the meantime here's another image wall. My Canon PowerShot SX230 HS was just the right size to hold in my right hand and rest on the windshield frame as I drove to snap pictures of the road ahead or to the side. Without harming myself or the Cabrio. :)

Roadside pull-off. There are quite a few places to pull aside to let someone pass (I don't like people following me) or stop and enjoy the view.
Time for a Panorama

Further up, another pull-off, this one a viewpoint with more parking and more room away from the road, perhaps to have a picnic. It's popular with bikers.

Almost at the ocean - it's only a block away. But first, back up the way I came to Little Sycamore Canyon Road because I missed the western-most section of the highway and I wanted to travel the whole length to the ocean.

At the beach! Parachute surfers take advantage of the wind to ride the water longer than the surf will ever allow.

Now I leave the peaceful winding roads of the Canyons and join the PCH through Malibu. The temperature is 20 or more degrees (F) cooler along the coast
