I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .

We had 6 hours of driving ahead, and it was already 4pm. This meant a lower angle for the sun, which made the terrain more interesting. But as you will see, we're leaving the desert behind for some elevation, and colour in the hills. And cooler temperatures - this is the first time in a month or more that I needed a coat near the end of the run.

We got in late, in the dark. Perhaps as a symbol of something, TFS's iPad, our road navigation and reference since Nashville was found but not returned in the restaurant we were dining in. Umpty-thousand miles across Big Bad America (not our words) and it's purloined here in this city of ostensible virtue. Would this be ironic? |
