I use a lot of links, and only thumbnail images open in a separate window. Middle-click or right-click a link to open it in a new window or tab.

I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .

But, I think I could be...

These are my last couple hours on this side of the border.

I'm only an hour from the border so I should cross by noon and be home after the evening rush-hour in Edmonton. The thin Great Falls Tribune made for a quick morning read with coffee, and the hotel didn't have USA Today, which I've quite grown to like reading as the 2nd morning paper. I'll pick one up when I get gas.

Time to quit putzing here in my hotel room and get my 'Eh' game going!

In Canada. Crossing the border was super-easy. I shopped at the duty-free shop, buying my allowable 40 ounces of alcohol (Jack Daniels) and carton of cigarettes (Marlboro). A 20-minute wait and maybe 5 minutes at the crossing window with my passport and purchases summary ready and I was repatriated.

Southern and central Alberta looks pretty much like northern Montana: flat and agricultural. A little rush-hour traffic in Calgary, and then progress.

Edmonton, looking like it's still awaiting spring.

This last leg of driving was long and uneventuful, over ground I'm quite familiar with. It was a very smooth cruise, more largely-empty roadways until near the end, big blue skies and sun, and CKUA on the radio (yay!) from about a half-hour in. Lots of time to reflect on the last seven months.
