I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .
But, I think I could be... Place name links like Carolina Beach, NC go to Wikipedia. Place name links like Carolina Beach use the local tourism or government website.

Carolina Beach Christmas Parade |

I'm not much of a Christmas person - never have been. But, there's a whole lotta Christmas around these parts, and without the ass-freezing cold and snow to force a guy inside, it's a lot easier to partake of it. So I have been, shamelessly. With so many municipal bodies around, there are a lot of seasonal festivities going on.

Tonight is Carolina Beach's turn. It's parade night, and lots of people have showed up for it. We're lucky to be able walk over after a few libations. |

There were quite a few beauty queens - Miss This and Miss That, in Junior and Mini forms - too dull to photograph. Lots of candy tossed to the crowd - I scored a small Snickers bar. Various youth, on foot, or bikes, or skateboards. An hour's worth of people walking down NC Highway 421, cheered on by a crowd from CB and Wilmington. |

After yesterday's land parade, tonight was a water parade. Even easier for TFS and I to saunter a block over, beverages in hand (gin and tonic for her, rum for me), and find a dark dock at a spot where the boats would pass by closest (the red dot in the map). People watched from their docked boats, or on the deck of their apartments, and at various places between buildings. |

Unlike in Wrightsville, the boats didn't just follow a straight line, and some made multiple passes over the hour. | |
