I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .

Palm Springs is very clean and tidy, full of "mid-century modern" architecture and shops harkening back to its days of prominence with the Rat Pack and as a popular resort destination for the well-heeled.
It's been a while since we've seen some art. Before we leave, the Palm Springs Art Museum will be a good stop for that.

Our cross-country relocation is nearing an end. We're only an hour or so from TFS's home in LA but it's a Friday night and traffic will be thick and slow as people leave their work world and head home for the Christmas holiday weekend. Being the winter solstice the sun is setting quickly and even in Palm Springs that means it's getting cooler.
| So in keeping with our Christmas-festivities indulgences for the last few weeks we stopped in at Riverside, CA to see their celebrations. Riverside had a street festival underway, with tons of lights and people enjoying various street activities downtown. There was food, music, skating, and even reindeers, lit by a million lights, most notably covering the Riverside Mission Inn. A perfect west-coast complement to our earlier east-coast Christmas spectacles. |
