The Petersen opens with a Los Angeles-centric view of the automobile, with cars set in period dioramas telling the story of the evolution of the automobile in LA transportation history.

The Petersen also has a "vault" of cars that are rarely shown. We had a chance to take that tour, but for $25 we weren't convinced it was worth it. A later story in the newspaper on the vault tour confirmed our decision - the cars there are mostly noteworthy because of who owned them and not what they were. |
