I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .

Today we get outta town. The sun is shining, it's reasonably warm, and we can drive with the top down. Perfect! So we head northwest to Santa Barbara, CA . | We started with lunch and a walk on Stearns Wharf, California's oldest working wharf. This is a panorama from the end of the wharf.

And finally a tour through Mission Santa Barbara , established in 1786. The Mission has survived 2 earthquakes and still functions as a church, museum, Franciscan Friary, and retreat house. |
