I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .

But, I think I could be...

Nice day, sunny but not real hot - where to go? Our destination is the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library because it's not far, and we can take some canyon roads to get there and back. In fact our route there was rather circuitous because the route suggested by TFS's iPad app had us going around the back way to a locked gate. Even when we found our way to the parking lot the proper way the app still wanted us to go back down and around to the back road - the first time it's failed us over thousands of miles of way-finding.

The Library and Museuum sits atop a hill overlooking the Simi Valley with a spectacular view of the San Fernando Valley . As for a few museums we've attempted to visit, the price (26 bucks per person) put us off going in, versus our interest in the museum's contents. No matter, they won't miss our money - the whole place is covered in sponsorship plaques for various public and private donors. We were happy enough to enjoy the grounds and the view and the sunshine.

A piece of the Berlin Wall that Reagan is credited with having inspired to be torn down.

Here's a panorama looking north (?) from the back of the museum.

The scenery and driving both Box Canyon and Woolsey Canyon were reason enough to get up there. Canyon driving in the surrounding hills and mountains is great fun, turning left and right, shifting up and down, rounding corners that seem to go off into space, hairpin curves, lots to make it recreational.
