I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .

But, I think I could be...

A real nice sunny day. Quelle surprise! So another over-the-mountain drive, ostensibly to return something to TFS's sister on the other side, taking the scenic route instead of the highway. Along the way we had another surprise stop to see something interesting we hadn't anticipated. What, you think we plan much?

There's life up here: Bear Divide Ranger Station and LA County Fire Dept Camp 9 are stationed along this ridge. A road goes right through the Fire camp, which is not a camp really but a compound of buildings. We drove through to the highest point we could go, and then back down a bit to see both sides of the ridge so I could get a 360-degree panorama.

We passed without incident, thanks to 10% relative humidity.

We ventured on farther but I have no pics. Can't remember why not. It's mostly desert-like foothill terrain. Lots of dirt and rocks. There is no more forest. We like it for getting to TFS's sister, so another time I'll grab some shots.
