Since last winter went so swimmingly, let's try it again! TFS has very graciously opened her home in the west San Fernando Valley to me again. This time her daughter AS (and dog and cat) are there too. Two women + two dogs + two cats = not my usual solitary winter again. Huzzah! Place name links like Los Angeles, CA go to Wikipedia. Forest Lawn Memorial Park - Glendale |
Comment
|
Cemeteries are not where you'd usually expect to see artworks, but Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale is such a place. Founded in 1906, the cemetary was innovative for its construction as a "memorial park" with an appreciation for aesthetics inclduing surface-grade grave markers, landscapes, statuary, and memorial architecture. |

The grounds are very park-like, with over 1500 sculptures, only 10% reproductions. With no admission charge it's a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon if you can get over the idea of a park populated by the deceased. |
