Since last winter went so swimmingly, let's try it again! TFS has very graciously opened her home in the west San Fernando Valley to me again. This time her daughter AS (and dog and cat) are there too. Two women + two dogs + two cats = not my usual solitary winter again. Huzzah! Place name links like Los Angeles, CA go to Wikipedia. After a 4-hour drive from San Antonio, TX we headed off for more walking, this time for the 9th annual Newellian Easter Parade, an odd little local parade in the Hollywood/Santa Monica district. The major attraction for me/us was that the parade Grand Marshal was Kinky Friedman , a Jewish-American Texas Country singer, songwriter, novelist, humorist, Governor of the Heart of Texas, distiller of boutique tequila, and in the running for 2014 Texas Agricultural Commissioner. We missed the parade by a half-hour, partly because we left San Antonio a little late, and aided by one of Texas' fine highway patrolmen who saw fit to issue me a speeding ticket just outside the city. But, we probably didn't miss much, as the whole parade location was about four blocks long. However, we got around the place to sample some local colour.
