I use a lot of links, and only thumbnail images open in a separate window. Middle-click or right-click a link to open it in a new window or tab.

Since last winter went so swimmingly, let's try it again! TFS has very graciously opened her home in the west San Fernando Valley to me again. This time her daughter AS (and dog and cat) are there too. Two women + two dogs + two cats = not my usual solitary winter again. Huzzah!

Time to leave Dallas, TX behind and head back west. Not a lot of tourism today - this is about covering ground. 9.5 hours to leave Texas behind, from Dallas to Albuquerque, NM , pretty flat throughout.

I partly amused myself by getting more shots of Texas Water Towers and have duplicated some of them here where they demonstrate the view along the way.

Somewhere in here we connected with Amarillo, TX , and the I-40 which would take us most of the way to Los Angeles, CA . We travelled some of this part last year. The I-40 has largely replaced the southern east-west portion of old Route 66 . There are still remnants of 66 visible from the highway, and driveable for those seeking a more leisurely historic route across the US. Outside of Amarillo I missed a chance at the local iconic shot of Cadillac Ranch , a public art installation just west of the city consisting of a series of brightly-painted automobiles buried nose-down in the ground at the same angle as the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.

A pretty easy run. A few stops for gas and bathroom, and one in Chillicothe, TX for some tourist shopping. TFS bought a 5-pound bag of unshelled pecans for pie.
