I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .
But, I think I could be... Place name links like Carolina Beach, NC go to Wikipedia. Place name links like Carolina Beach use the local tourism or government website.

On the road again, for a weekend trip, to Washington, D.C. , through Norfolk, VA , stopping overnight in Ocean City, MD . To get to Ocean City we have to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel - 3 bridges and 2 tunnels known as one of the Seven Engineering Wonders of the Modern World. We paid our 12 dollars and got on the bridge just in time before sunset, so you can see what it all looks like. |
It's not so easy taking pictures driving on several bridges and 2 tunnels in traffic but I persisted. Bridges are separated; tunnels are shared. |

I mentioned to TFS that we haven't seen much fog. Well... now we're catching up on fog. Can't see the ocean, but can hear it out there. Actually, I was up at 4am after an evening of all-you-can-eat ribs and shrimp - deeelicious - then passed out for a few hours. A long day's drive. So I was up, and wandered around outside a while, just me and the ocean, and took some pics in the foggy morning. Ocean City is quite a large resort, built in the late 1800s, with 9 miles of boardwalk. All we could see were a block or two in either direction, even in the morning light. |

Many things were shuttered for the season, or only open on weekends, like our hotel | |
