I've never been a beach person - nor much of a water person for that matter - there are only lakes and rivers in the land-locked Prairies scoured out of the ground by the glacial action of the last ice age and the meltwaters of the Rocky Mountains .

Are you getting the impression we've been driving around a lot with the top down in the fabulous weather looking for soemwhere to eat? Yes? You'd be right! Today we're headed to give Myrtle Beach, SC a look, and a bite. We've been past there before but today we'll stop in and have a look at the boardwalk.

But first, to Southport on the ferry.

    The ferry's propulsion blades operate more like a food mixer than a fan, projecting down into the water from the hull.

Myrtle Beach is a resort town with all the tourist facilities you (or a lot of people it seems) would want in a beach resort.

There's a $4.5 million beach nourishment project slated for Carolina Beach, and today the lifeguard shacks that haven't already been eaten by the ocean are being removed.
